Black-Owned Specialty Coffee
Black-Owned Specialty Coffee, Roasted in Atlanta
Portrait Coffee is a Black-owned specialty coffee roastery in West End Atlanta. We exist to change the picture that comes to mind when folks think of specialty coffee. We want a picture that includes Black people, because coffee was theirs from the beginning.
Coffee was first discovered by Africans. They had no idea this drink would one day become the world's most consumed beverage, second only to water. On the flip side, they had no idea their faces would be forgotten, even as the pigment of the cup mirrored their own.
Founded in 2019, Portrait roasts small-batch single origins and signature blends. Our coffee is roasted to order in our Atlanta roastery and shipped fresh to customers across the country.
Signature Blends Named for Black Cultural Icons
Our year-round blends are named for figures who shaped Black culture and American history.
- Toni: named for Toni Morrison. Chocolate forward, sticky sweet.
- Stacey: named for Stacey Abrams. Rich, smokey, resolute.
- Barry: named for Barry Jenkins. Well-balanced, sweet, fruity.
- Founders: the cup we built the roastery on. Smooth, sweet, juicy.
The Outkast Collaboration
In partnership with Outkast, we released Stankonia, a limited-edition coffee marking the 25th anniversary of the album. Atlanta in a cup.
Rotating Single Origins
Beyond our signatures, we source rotating single-origin coffees from producers across Colombia, Honduras, Rwanda, and beyond. See the single origins collection for what's currently in rotation.
